Ask anyone in the jewelry or decorative arts business – items sell better with a fanciful name than with one that simply describes them. Would you rather buy a brown diamond or a “chocolate” diamond? In the same way, many Mosser glass items have color names that are more imaginitive than descriptive. This glass collie is the color known as “Sea Breeze” – which sounds more appealing than saying “iridized light green.”
Unlike some of the other iridized “carnival” glass, the iridescence is very subtle on this collie. The “M” stamped on the pontil marks it as having been made in the early years.
